A: The Art of Tang Soo Do is over 2000 years old and is practiced as a Korean traditional martial art.  It uses the whole body concept and involves numerous hand techniques and kicks.  Although it is a highly applicable form of self-defense, we strive for each student to work on perfecting their technique and enhance and better their total person. With a shared cultural heritage with Korea and China, Tang Soo Do is comprised through many other forms of martial arts and shares many of the same characteristics.

A: You are never are too old to begin taking a class.  You train to your ability and what feels good to you.  As your training progresses, your abilities will improve.  We have students age 4 to 60+ in our programs.  Click on our Class Descriptions  links to learn more about the programs that we offer at Steel Dragons Martial Arts.  Check back often as we add additional programs to our schedule.
A: Our classes do not promote violence in any way.  In fact, we spend time educating our students on the avoidance of violence, fighting and discuss bullying.  We strive to teach personal mental and physical betterment, personal excellence and focus on when and how it is appropriate to defend yourself. 

Q: I never trained in a martial art.  Will I be able to take class with everyone else?
A: Yes.  We offer a series of FREE Introductory Classes in all of our programs.  This will teach you the basic skills needed for you to feel comfortable to join our regular scheduled class.  Remember, a journey of a thousand miles begins with one step.  Everyone was a beginner at one point.
A: All of our programs are reasonably priced.  There are no start up fees to begin training.  There is no contract to sign, or no equipment to purchase. Family discount plans are available.  We are proud to state that we are one of the most affordable martial arts schools in the Beaver County area.

Q: What are FREE INTRODUCTORY CLASSES?
A:  At Steel Dragons Martial Arts, we offer a series of FREE classes to try our programs.  Also, it allows you to learn the basic skills to join our regular class.  Our FREE introductory classes are scheduled at times when a regular class is not in session.  Contact us today to schedule your first FREE introductory class.

Q: What will my child learn in your classes?
A: The benefits learned and achieved through participating in any of our programs can be enjoyed by students of all ages.  Other than learning martial arts skills and self-defense, some of the benefits include: self-discipline, coordination, respect, confidence, responsibility, cooperation, better health, patience, positive behavior development, growth with a sense of justice and achievement, and many more.

Q:  Are your instructors certified and do they have PA Child Abuse, State Police and FBI clearances?
A: 
All Instructors were enrolled and have passed an Instructor Certification Program.  Assistant Instructors are currently enrolled in the same program, where upon completing and passing, will become Certified Instructors.  All Instructors and Assistant Instructors, of legal age, have passed the PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Background Criminal Record Check as well as the FBI Fingerprinting Background Check.  Any Assistant Instructor helping with class is under the direction of a Certified Instructor at all times.

Q: I used to train in another art.  Will I be able to keep my rank and wear my old belt?

A: Many aspects of different arts and studios share the same characteristics and values with Tang Soo Do and Steel Dragons Martial Arts.  Other studios and arts have different requirements and ranking systems.  First, we look at what is similar between the two arts and/or studios.  Then, we test you to an equivalent rank within our system where you will wear your newly earned equivalent rank.
